Master Bedroom Decorating Ideas
We all enjoy our bedroom and it is probably true to say that we all secretly yearn for a nicer bedroom; one that is more than just a place to sleep so decorating or re-decorating the master bedroom can be very rewarding. This is a relatively recent occurrence as homeowners have only just begun to see the benefits of jazzing up the master bedroom. The US is a little behind Europe in this respect. The French and the Italians for example, have always seen the bedroom as a sensual place. To make this work, certain colors like subtle shades of pink, deep reds and pastel peaches are needed. The addition of oval mirrors can help create beautiful reflections when candles are placed close to them. If you are fond of candlelight then the addition of strategically placed mirrors will give a dramatic effect that could not be done with conventional lighting. Be sure to provide enough light for reading, which can be done without having to flood the room with harsh reading lights by placing softer lighting throughout the room. A reading room should also have a color theme as well; this will normally mean walls and other areas painted in ivory, antique amber, sage green or a beautiful slate blue, all of which are pleasing on the eye. If you are trying to achieve a sanctuary effect as you decorate the master bedroom, then soft pillows, luxurious throws, landscape paintings and mirrors will promote private reflection. If you add the comfortable chair and a standing lamp then you will have a retreat that also doubles as a reading room. If, when you decorate your master bedroom, you want to make this an even more relaxing room then all you require is some family photographs on display in possibly antique style frames. The most comfortable colors for a sanctuary style room are darker shades like chocolate brown, deep greens and cobalt blues which help make the room feel cozy. Where space is not a problem then by placing a small television or writing desk, it can make the master bedroom feel like a place that you can completely retire to. If you are going this far then why not add a mini fridge and drink making facility which could turn your bedroom into a the equivalent of a personally designed hotel suite. Unlike other rooms in your home, master bedroom decorating ideas allow for a great deal of flexibility. Beware you don't go too far however and find that once you’re in the room you don't have a reason to leave it.
